Rehabilitation Services
| Appling Rehabilitation Services offers evaluation and
treatment of various orthopedic, neuromuscular and neurological disorders affecting
pediatric through geriatric populations. Our purpose is to provide quality, individualized
rehabilitative services on a cost effective basis.
We have programs for early intervention services in
collaboration with Babies Cant Wait, for school-aged children through the school
system, inpatient and outpatient services for most patient needs. Our outpatient program
includes pre and post surgery treatment of various orthopedic disorders following
physician specific protocols. Work injury programs focus of returning the worker back to
work after analysis of work related needs. |

Physical Therapy
Development of programs to improve strength, flexibility and muscle
coordination necessary for movement activities (walking, running, climbing stairs).
Programs for pain management, treatment of neck and back disorders, as well as orthotics
and prosthetics training are also available. Wound care is also available for upper
and lower extremity needs. Pre/Post operative programs for upper and lower extremity
disorders are completed as outlined by the physician. Sports medicine services are also
available. Equipment includes whirlpool, cervical and skeletal traction, electrical and
thermal modalities, myofascial release and massage for soft tissue dysfunction.

Occupational Therapy
Includes the evaluation and treatment of activities of daily living
dysfunction to assist patients of all ages to carry out daily activities as independently
as possible. These tasks can include bathing, grooming, dressing, homemaking and work
related tasks. The assessment and implementation of the use of adaptive equipment helps
individuals compensate for losses.
Early intervention and school based services address patterns of normal
development to allow children to achieve developmental milestones. Orthotics fabrication
for the upper extremity either by custom fabrication or prefabricated items are available
to improve range of motion, reduce deformities to allow for independence with daily
activities. Services include: cognitive and perceptual testing and retraining,
neuromuscular re-education, upper extremity splinting, fabrication of adaptive equipment. |

Speech/Language Pathology
Includes the evaluation and treatment of communication, articulation, and
oral motor dysfunction. Modified Barium Swallow studies are available in our radiology
department to assess swallowing dysfunction and dysmotility issues. Services include:
aural rehabilitation, articulation, auditory comprehension, reading, writing cognitive
processing pragmatics and oral motor skills are addressed. |
